BUNDA COLLEGE STUDENTS WEAR MASKS AND ATTACK PRINCIPAL

There are some acts and actions that you may believe are practible only in movies and novels. But from what Bunda college (one of the Universities of Malawi) did on Monday the 20Th of March, 2011, you will believe that seen and read in movies and novels are not always exaggerated stories to buy interest.

Unknown Bunda College students on Monday wore masks and captured the College’s principal, Professor Moses Kwapata and forced him to write a memo to all lecturers that exams have been postponed.

Kwapata: attacked

After that they went out and deflated vehicles that were at car park.

The students started rioting on Sunday evening demanding management to delay exams by a week so that they can get fully prepared. The students claim that the lecturers’ recent strike had disturbed them.

The lecturers came up with two resolutions on the strike; that those who want to boycott classes were at liberty to do so, and allowed those who wanted to teach to do so.

This follows a call to Inspector General of Police, Peter Mukhito, to apologise for summoning and interrogating Chancellor College political science lecturer, Blessings Chinsinga.

Chinsinga was summoned after it was reported that he gave an example in class of the Middle East demonstrations. He reportedly said such demonstrations can be started if the economy is not fine. Chinsinga cited the shortage of fuel in Malawi as a possible cause for insurrections.

Mukhito refused to apologise and has been backed by President Bingu wa Mutharika&gt>
