BINGU THUGS THREATEN VIOLENCE ON JULY 20 DEMONSTRATIONS

Ntaba: Public lecture will
be ideal

A group organised and
sponsored by President Bingu
wa Mutharika has threatened
that it will unleash violence to
Malawians who plan to hold
peaceful nationwide demonstrations scheduled for
July 20.

The demonstrations are aimed
at expressing concerns over
bad governance and other
challenges Malawi is
experiencing such as forex
and fuel shortages.

But a group of thugs calling
themselves ‘Concerned
Citizens’ say they will crash
the protestors in the streets
“in defence of Bingu wa
Mutharika.”

Self-styled commander of the
group, Davie Kanyoza, told a
news conference that the
ruling DPP youth cadets will
be deployed in the streets to
counter the protestors.

“We will meet them in the
streets and fight them there,”
Kanyoza challenged.

According to a plot exposed
by DPP insiders, the group is
planning to unleash
unprecedented violence and
terror fronted by DPP.

Information Minister Symon
Vuwa Kaunda and Presidential
Spokesman Hetherwick Ntaba
told a news conference in the
capital Lilongwe that the
demonstration should be cancelled and the “grievances”
are channelled to Mutharika at
the public lecture.

“Public lecture will provide a
rare opportunity. Panellists
will respond to any issues
raised,” Kaunda said.

Ntaba said the demonstrations
should be cancelled because
the public lectures are a state
function.

“There are those who are said
we will be afraid. We will be
afraid. The President is giving
you the assurances…. Nobody
will intimidate you. You will
be free to ask any questions,” he said.

Ntaba dismissed the assertions
that the lecture will be an
‘empty talk’, saying the
judgement should be passed
after the lecturer should be
delivered first.—@ Nyasa Times

[…] fauna africa video – http://www.capetownbig5safaris.com/blog/rhino-poaching-plague/. All in all, Namibia is possibly the perfect place to explore Africa and its wonders. Well believe it or not, not every country in Africa is war-torn and in constant civil war with rebels driving down every street threatening you with AK-47s or lions on leashes. I know this might shatter your world view, but some countries are pretty well run. The biggest thing for Namibia is its previous Apartheid government it shared with South Africa, but that of course has been officially over for a while now, and instead of bitter resentment it seems like everyone there is just happy to have it be done. Okay I can get there, but what about the rebels? […]
