PRIVATE RADIO’S VEHICLE SET ON FIRE, 2ND ATTACK IN 24HRS

Barely 24 hours
after its outside broadcast
Land Rover vehicle was
attacked by masked
hoodlums, another vehicle
belonging to the privately-owned Zodiak Broadcasting
Station (ZBS) has been set on
fire.

An eye-witness say the
attack happened at the
station’s headquarters in the
capital Lilongwe’s up market
Area 47 suburb.

“Men came in a car after all the
staff had knocked off for the
night and set the car on fire
and left,” said the eye-witness
whose identity we can’t
reveal for safety reasons.

The attack on ZBS vehicle
comes two days before
planned nationwide
demonstrations against
policies of the administration
of Pres. Bingu wa Mutharika.

ZBS, like all privately-owned
media houses, have been
giving platform to organisers
of the protests who have
become under heavy attack
by government officials through the state-run Malawi
Broadcasting Corporation. @
